As a Mom of four I am in a constant battle with my children and my phone. Every time I reach for my phone it has magically disappeared as one of my little Sherman crew has run off with it hiding in a corner somewhere playing and having fun. This leaves me in a predicament as I miss calls, miss texts, and of course the near dead battery is enough to drive me crazy! Then I was introduced to PlayMG and I ave instantly fallen in love! The new PlayMG is a portable gaming device running on an Android system. The PlayMG is exactly like my cell phone minus the calling, texting and monthly cell phone bill!
PlayMG is absolutely and is perfect for kids of all ages, or that special gamer in your life. PlayMG has Google Playstore so there is no expensive gaming cartridges to buy when new games come out. Just as your cell phone you can search through over 60,000 apps, games, music, books, social media apps and more. There are all your traditional programs like calculator, alarm clock, and email. The system requires you too set up your device to a Google account. I linked mine up at first and then removed it and made an account specifically for the device as to protect my account from my children. I would highly recommend this as kids can accidentally mess around with things and not realize it, for instance my three and five year old.
With PlayMG there is no monthly cellphone bill as the device runs on wi-fi. This is a great feature as we have wireless wi-fi at home, but when we are out and about, if there is no wi-fi signal the device will not load most games or apps like Netflix or Spotify. Some gaming apps will still work so be sure to keep a few of your kids favorites for those dead areas.
All four of my kids have had their chance to play on the PlayMG gaming system and absolutely love it! It is very lightweight yet heavy duty, far more protected than my cell phone is. There is a small cutout at the top where you can attach a clipped lanyard, this feature was a plus for my three year old. When he gets super excited playing his favorite games he often drops my cell phone, not with the PlayMG, it is safe and secure from falls while on the lanyard.
PlayMG has integrated the Family Collaboration System which enables your child to build your trust by showing responsible gaming behavior. Once you log in and set up your Family Collaboration setting you can monitor your child’s activity. You can see what apps they have downloaded and how much time they have spent on their device. You can set up email alerts for remote monitoring and weekly email usage reports.
For apps that cost money PlayMG sends you a Prepaid Mastercard, a “dummy” play card comes in the package with instructions on the back to set up and order your prepaid card. If you choose to load your card PlayMG matches your first $10 deposit, giving you $20 to spend. This feature encourages your child to learn saving and smart spending as well as working on a budget. This helps protect your credit card from unlimited downloading and a surprise credit card bill.
PlayMG also has an awesome program where TV Star Olivia Holt and Basketball All Star Kyrie Irving provide weekly app recommendations. Each week they will help you discover new apps that you may not have heard of. With over 60,000 apps in the playstore this feature helps find great new games and apps!

The PlayMG sounds wonderful an potentially addictive. I have a DS1 and a PSP but haven’t used them in quite a while. I do most of my gaming on the PS3 and Xbox 360 since I am big into 1 player RPGs. If I won I would love to keep it for myself but I would instead give it to my niece for Christmas or her Sweet 16. I know that having addictive games so mobile and accessible can get me into a lot of trouble. I used to get wrapped up in the games That I would tune everything else out and forget what I was suppose to REALLY be doing.
