As you know from my about us page we are a family of 6, Two parents and four children. At this point 4 out of 6 of us wear glasses. As you can imagine eye care expenses are quite expensive! Our insurance covers all of our visits and exams but prescriptions are ridiculous. Policy allows for a new pair only once a year for children under 18 and every two years for adults.
MeMe had a major prescription change 6 months after she received her glasses and had to wait an additional 6 before she could order a new pair and have it covered by insurance. In my mind that’s a horrible policy. In the mean time we had to search for an affordable new pair of glasses and as you can imagine that was ridiculous.
Prescription glasses from an Optometrist office range from $110+, at Wal-Mart we could find a pair of frames and lenses for roughly $75. For a family of six that can put a wrench in a budget!
