Stolen Innocence by Elissa Wall

Stolen Innocence by Elissa Wall

What a great book. After the raid on the FLDS YFZ ranch in Texas, I could not understand the women and children’s point of view and why they would continue the abuse and protect their abusers, so I decided to start doing some research and look into this extreme religion and their beliefs and practices. I found this book first and began my venture into a world I did not realize at the time was SO dark and depressing. I have read several polygamy books since, and I know now that Elissa Wall and her experiences and miraculous escape from the FLDS and her journey afterward was the beginning of Warren Jeffs fall from reign and control and eventually his imprisonment. Elissa’s story also encouraged other women, children and yes, even boys and men to come forward with their story and even pursue legal action. This was a very emotional and very sad read. I feel so bad and broken hearted for the women and young children of the FLDS community. Warren Jeffs and some other elders completely brainwashed member’s of the religious sect and used their emotions against them. I have so much more to say but sadly it is only how I feel towards their sect and their religion and their practices, not the book itself. I do recommend reading this book!!! If anything at least as a learning experience! Highly recommended, our society need an eye opener into their world and if anything come up with a successful way to handle these cases!

  1. Sounds like a book that I will not be able to put down as I continue to learn of their abuse “behind the walls”. Thank you for the great review.

  2. I think this book would help us to understand how people can be brain washed.
