The Christian Mama’s Guide To Having A Baby
by: Erin MacPherson
As a Mom of four I have definitely spent a lot of time pregnant and reading through pregnancy books as if they were my daily instructions on how to simply survive pregnancy. First time Moms search frantically for the perfect book spending hundreds of dollars and often times left with a heaping pile of unasnwered questions and tattered pages.
The Christian Mama’s Guide to Having A Baby by Erin MacPherson was a breath of fresh air. The book is filled with real life advice by an experienced real life Mom! The author, Erin, states in her forward that this book lacks medical jargon, and she holds true to that. When you are reading through the pages you get the feeling that you are at your Sunday fellowship potluck chatting around a table with your friends and pregnancy pro Erin MacPherson.
One of my favorite things about this book was the personal connection. The mounds of pregnancy books I have read in the past are all very technical and medically fact based, reading almost like a pre-med text book. While all of that medical information is great, it really would have been nice to have some advice from an unbiased woman that has experience in the pregnancy department.
I highly recommend for all expectant Moms, first timers or not this book gives you a whole new perspective on pregnancy and reading materials. This would also make an amazing congratulatory gift for friends and family that have just shared the amazing news!

Sounds like a great book..
Nobody I know is expecting, but I’ll have to keep it in mind to recommend, though I don’t know if the religious aspect would please my friends and acquaintances.
This sounds like a book I would enjoy reading right now being that I’m pregnant! I would love to read a positive and first hand perspective on pregnancy.
This sounds like a great book! My sister just told me she was prego with there first I would love to win or buy it for her!!
Such a needed book. Simply being more aware and mindful of how we live out our faith and how we inspire our children.
This would make a great gift!
Ok, so after looking at this post and commenting on it numerous times I have decided that yes…i am 95% sure I am going to get this book as a gift for my friend :). Thank you!

I know very few who are expecting these days…however, I am sure that this would be a groovy read for someone who was~!!
I need all the help I can get. I watch kids in my home plus I have a newborn granddaughter. So tips on kids and babies and pregnancies are never over here.
I have a few pregnant friends who’d love to read this!
I just delivered my new baby boy on May 2nd. I really would enjoy reading this too.
Sounds like a great book, thanks for sharing!
my bff is having her 1st baby soon! What a great baby shower gift idea
This would be a great book for my niece.
I don’t have any children yet but this sounds like it would be a great baby shower gift.
I am so happy to have discovered this book. I have a couple of friends who are expecting and this will be a perfect gift for both of them.

this sounds good to me, i would prefer a less technical approach!
Well, I had five children/pregnancies, but all of those (except for one) has even had their babies. I have nine grandchildren, and no one near having babies yet, but I’m sure it’s a good book.
No babies due in my family, but it sounds like it could be very helpful!
I would love to have this book for my daughter in law who just found out she is pregnant.
This sounds like a book that I would have enjoyed when I was pregnant with my four children…we need common sense, down to earth views and advice for new mothers.
Sounds like the one book to have on the subject.
Cute! Would love this for a baby shower gift
Those days are over for me but it sounds like a great book for moms-to-be.
Survive (and love) you pregnancy..lol. I don’t know if I could love my pregnancy. At first its awesome but by the time the last month rolls around its pretty terrible.
This is a book my SIL might like. Thanks!
Sounds like a very helpful book! I wish I would have had it when I had my five kids.
Bookmarking to buy when my daughters have their next baby
Christianity affects every area of life…why not pregnancy too?
this looks great – love that it covers what to expect during your appts with the medical team. Would also love to read the baby’s first year book.
This sounds like a great book. Every first time mom needs to read as many books as possible. There are so many great tips out there.
This would be a great baby shower gift for an expecting mama!
Wish they had this around when I was expecting.
That would make a great baby shower gift!
Thanks for the review! I think my best friend would love this book!
This would cover most of the topics to questions mothers have! Great read.
I am to old for children and my daughter cannot have anymore but when my 2 grand daughters get old enough I hope that book is still around it has good asvice
I would love to read this book because of the personal connection that is made! Too often there are books that get so specific without being personal and being a part is all about personal!
everyone needs faith
I’m all through having babies but sounds like a good book
Sounds like a book that provides pregnancy support in a more familial way than the books that are very instructional but lack the warmth that this book provides. Probably like getting advice from your best friend instead of the gynocologist. It’s good to have books that kind be more supportive than directional.
I know some people who would enjoy this book. I’ll have to suggest it…
Sounds interesting!

Thank you! What a great idea for a baby shower gift!!
I def. want to check this out! I have several friends who are expecting soon and this would be the perfect gift
Looks very informative… don’t know anyone who’s expecting at the moment, though.
Thankfully, my pregnancy times are over. My youngest is 4 on Tuesday and there won’t be more. However, this sounds like the perfect gift for someone pregnant that goes to Church
This sounds like a book I would have loved when I was pregnant! I will definitely remember it for friends.
Sounds like a wonderful book! I would have loved to read it during my pregnancies. I will refer it on to friends, thank you!
When I was preganant I read too many books and then forgot what I needed to know during delivery.
Sounds interesting! Will keep in mind for the future!
Sounds like a good read for any one expecting. Add it to the pile of reading material am I right. What makes it different other that it gives a little more personal feel? Since it has christian in the title, does it have strong religious tones to the book? I’m not religious and not a lot of my friends are either.
Sounds like a great idea for a baby shower gift! Unbiased advice is something that is definitely missing from many other pregnancy books.
Not really a book for me, but I can think of quite a few people who would love it!
This would be a wonderful addition to any baby shower gift! Thanks for the review!
I love to check out this book. I’ve got five now but I have nieces, cousins and friends that it would sound like a wonderful passaround for.
I think every pregnant woman needs this book!!
My niece is having a baby next month, this would be perfect! Thank you again!
I’m sure a Christian woman who is expecting would appreciate this book.
This books sounds like it would be enjoyed by Christian mothers to be.
Every mom needs all the help she can get. share it with my cousin
A book without medical jargon is definitely nice. It is really hard to find a pregnancy book that is “down to earth”
This book sounds like an informative, useful read. What a great resource for moms! s2inamug at aim dot com
I’m not too much of a reader.. but this may be helpful!
Ashley Sifers
I could have used a book like this with my first. I did it all alone with no family and only drs to tell me what was going on. And I was in a foreign county. Really hard.
Looks like a great book for an expecting mom.
love books like this thanks makes me remember how unsure i was of my slef
Sounds like a great read!

Glad I don’t have need of this book anymore.
I think this would be a great gift for my friend Jess who is due next month! I love the cover too, very cute.
This looks like a good read and would make a great gift.
This would make for a great Congrats gift for any expecting mommmy!
I’d like to read The Christian Mamas Guide to Parenting a Toddler!
Sounds like a great book, wish I would have read it while pregnant.
I was curious of the same, there are small undertones of religion but in no way is religion shoved down your throat or on EVERY page. I was very happy to see that the book was not forcing views on readers. It would be like pregnancy advice and pregnancy discussions with Michelle Duggar, there would be hints of religion but it is solely the advice and tips from an experienced Mom, who happens to be Christian.
Awesome, great ideas!
thank you for sharing this guide, this would be perfect for my friend!
I’m sure young mothers-to-be would benefit by such a wonderful book. You really did a grand Post with such a simplistic review for young moms too!
This sounds like a good book for a Christian mom who is expecting.
upstatemissy@gmail.com“
I am beyond my baby having years, but now we’re “collecting” grandchildren. I think this book would be a fabulous read for any mother to be. We’re all hungry for some real meat that we can sink our teeth into when we’re expecting. It’s good to know that someone has presented the info in layman’s terms.
What about mamas who aren’t Christian? Something similar without the religion would be nice.
Helpful to most expecting mothers!
This is a great idea for shower gift for a new mom. Thank you for sharing!
Looks like a great book.
This would be a great gift for my niece who is expecting wilcarvic

I recently had my first daughter and hope I wont need these types of books for a while.
I had a tubal ligation but i wish i had this book when I was preganat. This sounds like a great book.
I’m going to get this book for my sister in law. She would really like it. And some of my first time mom friends would probably enjoy it a lot as well.
I will definitely remember this for a baby shower gift, especially at a church shower.
I just had my baby but I would still love to win this for next time I’m pregnant.

Thanks for reviewing this book, I will try to remember it if I have another baby.
Oops, I can’t figure out how to edit my comment, but I logged in with the wrong account… this is John-Paul Thomas. Still a great review.
This book sounds awesome. I have had 3 children and the other books scared me. I know they were trying to prepare you for the worst, but that’s really the last thing a pregnant momma needs
Interesting. But not sure what Christian vs not Christian has to do with having a baby.
I appreciate that it is from a Christian perspective.
this looks like a good book

When I was pregnant with my daughter, I tried to read what I could about what to expect during pregnancy, delivery, and baby care. There was sooo much information and much of it was dry.
Also, there was so much stuff available in the stores, we were overwhelmed and didn’t know what we would need.
We really appreciated the practical advice we got from experienced moms. The books I enjoyed the most were written in everyday language with a dose of encouragement and humor.
sounds interesting
It seems the book market is being over run with guide books
sounds wonderful!
Sounds like a great book especially for first timers. I’ll adding this to my list of gifts to give.
nice review. I think getting some down to earth advice about pregnancy would be great.
I think this sounds like an awesome book. I have two kids and do not plan on having another, but I would recommend all expectant moms learn as much as they can while pregnant!
This sounds very interesting… I’ll have to see if our library carries it!
Well, I can say this your first sentence… let me elaborate in my instance (hehehe) my youngest child was born in 1980, and my oldest child in 1969… need I say more, and sorry my girls are done having babies too (thank the Lord). I have 9 grandchildren.
Love great pregnancy books! I devoured them during my first pregnancy
This sounds like a good book, I wish I would have had it when I was expecting, but I will definitely remember to tell friends who may need it in the future
You also speak about pregnancy books. In my day all they really had was “Dr. Spock, and we all know how that one turned out! hahahaha I never went by the book really. I really didn’t have a choice, it was my gram, and my mother’s rules with my first child. After that it became old business! hehehe
Even not being a first time mom, I think this would be great! Especially the diet/exercise tips. I was NOT good at that before. :/
Oh darn, I didn’t get the link to the comment right before this one, so I’ll put this link = hope that’s okay!
Looks like an awesome book, I will definitely remember it for friends when they are preggo!

The Christian Mama’s guide the First School years.
i would love to read a book like this…rather than feeling like a statistic you feel like a person and that there are choices you can make rather than let stuff happen!
Indeed helpful
Sounds like a great book, written by an experienced mom- I’m sure it would make a wonderful baby shower gift.
My daughter-in-law is expecting. I need to get this book for her.
I have a friend who would benefit from this book greatly. Her biggest complaint is that she reads all these “technical” advice books and she’s depressed by them. Ahhh First pregnancies are always the toughest, lol. I think your nest book should be.. “So, Your friend is having her first baby. What to do when she starts crying at the mall.” Because as much as I would love to look at her and say the obvious “it’s those dastardly hormones, You’ll be alright.” I find myself buying her a cookie and giving her a tissue.
Definitely a book I would have read when i was preggo!!
Sounds like a good book to get if you’re expecting or for someone trying..
Great shower gift idea
I like that it’s from a christian perspective
my sister is having her first baby BOY!!! I cant wait June 6th 2013 is when she is due

marcia.goss@gmail.com“
Definitely adding this book to my to be read book list if i don’t win
Sounds like a book based on religious beliefs on how to raise your child
This seems to be a great book for first time and moms of many. It’s nice to have that personal connection with an author instead of the feeling of reading a medical book about what to expect (although those are helpful as well.)
Seems like an interesting book! I may have to check it out
This would be great for my sister!
This looks like a refreshing book to read. I am due with #3 and would love to read this.

It is great that books like these are available to the young mothers of today. Back in the dark ages 45plus years ago what you heard was word of mouth and what the doctor would tell you or what Dr Spock said. Think these books are great for getting the answers a young mother needs and wants
Looks like it would be a great book for someone.
I loved this book while pregnant with my second! As a youth pastor’s wife and now mom of two boys, this book was so incredibly helpful!
I have the toddler version of this book and love it! your review is spot on – it is a very personal type book and made me at least feel better about the things my kids does!
I never read any baby books while I was pregnant with my first two kids, things just came naturally to me. But now I’ve been hooked on baby books because I just love learning.

It’s nice to see a book that has more personal information instead of just technical stuff.

Sounds like a wonderful book…honestly, this time around I haven’t been reading the pregnancy books…like you said, so technical…if I have questions, I simply google (which may be a bad thing too haha)…this is one I might have to give a try to though:)
There are a million books out there for pregnancy and parenting, but very few use faith to guide us through the journey! Very good idea!
These kind of books are always helpful when having a baby!

Hello, I am here from the summer splash giveaway to leave a review. I agree with you that a book simply written by a Mom, is much more helpful that all the medical books. thank you. Vicki
sounds like a good book
This would make a great gift!
Perfect book to give as part of baby shower gift baskets I’m making for two friends that are both expecting babies in August. One was even complaining about how all the books she’s bought and checked out seem to impersonal. I will definitely be purchasing this soon.
I would love to give this to my sister who is due in July!
