My name is Miranda and I am an addict. Two weeks ago I was introduced to the hardest drug ever. I catch myself sneaking off throughout the day to get just a little more. I waste time seeking more and more. I have even met other addicts who spend just as much time searching, seeking, sharing and ……………………………….Pinning!
Yes, I said it, I’m addicted to Pinterest! My sister Stacia sent me an invite and I clicked through having no idea what Pinterest was. Turns out its amazing! In the easiest terms, Pinterest is an online cork-board to “pin” all the cool stuff you find online. The equivalent is dog-earing your magazines when you find cool crafts, yummy recipes and DIY projects to do.
There is a really cool wall feature similar to Facebooks home page. When you follow other Pinterest members as they pin things they like, it will show up on your main page giving you the opportunity to “repin” things you find from them. This is such a cool feature because they might find something you haven’t.
I am always excited when I find new “pinners” to follow; more pinners mean more opportunity to find more idea and cool stuff.
Pinterest is invitation only. Once you accept an invitation Pinterest helps you set up and name a few “boards”. Don’t worry, you can rename, change and add more boards at any time. I have seen members that have 20 or more boards and some that have only one or two. It is completely up to you how you want our “pins” organized. After you name your boards Pinterest will ask you if you would like to find some of your Facebook friends that are also Pinterest members so you can follow them.
The next step….Pinning! You can “repin” cool stuff that others have already pinned or you can add the awesome “pin it” button to your bookmarks toolbar so when you’re surfing the internet and find new, cool stuff just click the “pin it” button on your toolbar and it automatically adds it to your boards. I LOVE “pinning” stuff this way because it may be new material for my followers. You can find the “pin it” button when you hover over the “about” tab on your Pinterest home page.
I have a few boards. A craft board, Recipe boards, home décor and design ideas, freebie & giveaway board and of course a humor board. So far I have pinned quite a bit..and personally between you and I, I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon!
