Lost by Miranda Sherman – Writer’s Workshop

Lost

The warmth of his hands wrapped around her frail, thin hand distracted him for just one moment, he was lost.

Lost, in the depth of his mind as he desperately clung to the memory, not one, but an entire life worth of memories.

Lost, in the overwhelming love he felt over half his life, love that he fears, fears will slip through…..his hand, his….warm…..hands.

Lost, in the sadness, the sadness of refusing to acknowledge the future, the future that is so near.

Lost, in the rhythm of the beeps and sounds surrounding the two high school sweethearts.

Lost, in prayer, desperate prayer as he begs God, Mother Nature and every higher power listening, for help.

Lost, in the need for more, more time, more love, more memories, more her.

Lost, he is lost, never has a word defined a moment in time so accurately.

Lost, as the room becomes quiet, deafening quiet.

Lost, as the hand he desperately clings to grows colder.

Lost, as he loses all faith in the world.

Lost, as he soaks that hand, that face, that bedside with tears, pouring from his eyes.

Lost, his most painful experience ever.

Lost, his world, he….is ……..lost.

Lost, his wife

Lost, sanity, consumed by grief

Lost
………………

Lost, grown children, saddened, grieving, lonely

Lost, no more, holding hands again

Reunited, but missed by all, but together again.
