Time to Vent About Today’s News

Well here it goes! Those of you that know me are used to this, those of you that do not know me, beware! I don’t get worked up like this too often, but it does happen. It has probably been at least 5 months since I have been worked up, maybe the Mom hormones calmed me down for awhile, who knows. Anyways, Today I woke up earlier than I had planned. It’s cold here today and I can’t seem to warm up! UGH! Brody is teething and has this weird screechy shrill cry due to his sore throat, and it’s driving me insane! All this can be dealt with by using some extra patience and keeping the house quiet. My tummy started to growl a little bit ago so I poured myself a bowl of cereal and sat down in front of the computer to read and watch news and headlines while I eat some food. My homepage is yahoo and what do you know the minute it popped up I was boiling with rage, only to read the article and now my mind is racing and I wish I could just cuss some people out and maybe throw a couple punches! You must be thinking OMG what did she see, what is going on, she seems so nice. Well here is the headline “High court backs Westboro funeral protests” WHAT? SERIOUSLY? so I click on it and start to read, only fueling my fire, anger and hatred even more! Lucky for the public I don’t have to leave the house until 4 when Sherman gets home and we go run errands giving me time to compose myself and behave! haha! Anyways for those of you that don’t know or haven’t heard Westboro Baptist Church is the church that started the “Protest at Military Funerals” thing. It is absolutley disgusting! They show up to funerals of members of the military who were killed during combat. with signs and screaming things like “Thank God for dead soldiers,” “You’re Going to Hell,” “God Hates the USA” “Thank God for 9/11,” These people make me sick and angry! Who do they think they are and it amazes me that they have gotten away with this for so long, makes me want to put my fist…well anyway you get the point, scum, simple scum of the earth!
Now I am completely disappointed with the court system, BUT at the same time I understand. I understand they had to go with the right to free speech and that they were in the legal confines to protest and that they could not be punished for protesting. I do want to see them charged BY the United States for treason or something similar. What they are promoting is sick, hateful and terrorist! To say things like “Thank God for 9/11” What the hell is wrong with them? Nevertheless I hope they are severely punished and that someone makes an example of them and their behavior!
A few years ago my Husband had a friend that was killed by a roadside bomb. I was very nervous to attend the funeral for many reasons. One being the drama and protests, but I wanted to support my husband and be there for him and to show my respect. I was very relieved to see that the Patriot Guard Riders surrounding the area and shielding any type of negativity and I never seen any of that drama! What a relief and an honor that they helped and guarded this family, this funeral, these grieving friends, family and community from all of that crap! I have much respect for those riders and all the rest of the club throughout this country, Thank You for helping! Thank You for your time!
That being said, I would LOVE to hear what you guys think of this whole thing? How do you feel? What are your thoughts? If you are a lawyer, attorney, or some part of the legal system, is there anything that can be done? Could they be charged with Treason? ……and until next time  Time to take some deep breaths, drink a soda and maybe take a nap..anything to calm down! ~Miranda~

  1. I felt the same way about the protests at Matthew Sheppard’s funeral (he was tortured and murdered for being gay). People who think it’s OK to celebrate a innocent person’s death are indeed the scum of the earth. Honestly, I try not to think about it because it makes me feel sick to my stomach.
I really struggle with the free speech aspect of this, but I think our current laws (in Canada – not sure about the States) do a decent job of balancing free speech with the crime of inciting hate.

  2. I left you a little something on my blog. Should be ready for you to pick up in the morning!!!!

  3. I am amazed that the protestors feel as though they are justified in their actions. To disgrace someone’s funeral is as low as it gets. I understand your anger and I’m right with you! What I know for sure is that stupidity is a hard illness to cure…and this is most certainly the case here.

  4. I’m always amazed that these protests are actually organized by a group, and in this case a church!! So much for tolerance and love.
    BTW, I’m a new follower!
