Crafty Cell Phone Play Day – Project for Kids

The other day I was working on the computer when MeMe came up asking to help her with the packing tape. When she explained what she was up to I was blown away at her creativity. The kids were making toy cell phones and were playing with each other. It was so cute.
Here the kids had ripped off all the lids of the butt wipe containers and decorated them into little play cell phones. They had a blast running around calling each other and other people as well. Bruiser even started playing the pizza man and was taking orders.
Brody even joined in on the fun and was making phone calls. After watching the kids play and have fun I decided I should share this with others and we began making just one more. We began taking pictures and had a lot of fun with it.
MeMe was a little self conscious at first but warmed up to it in time as her creative crafting burst through with designing her extra play phone.
To make this fun project with your kids begin by purchasing wipes with similar packaging. We use Parent’s Choice from Wal-Mart. The lids come off easily as they are lightly sticky glued on.

Once removed pick a fun design and colors to decorate the play phone. This is the fun part where you are able to let your child’s personality really shine through!

After that you open the case and use clear packaging tape to tape the paper and design down. Making sure to wrap the tape around the side so the lid can continue to open, it makes it more fun for the kids.

You can leave the project there or you can add a pretend dial pad to make the phone more realistic with the added bonus of number learning and recognition!
This project has provided the kids with endless amounts of fun and they have changed it up and played many different things ranging from pizza delivery to operator to working for Sherman’s answering service.

  1. So cute – and hysterical where the lids initially came from. You have to love the brilliant thinking of kids. They see cell phones where we see clean.
    Happy seeing beautiful!

  2. Haha looks like the family are loving their new phones ! My daughter has an obsession with play phones too
