What a Weekend!

WOW! It has been quite the weekend! Friday started off with a nervous morning. Sherman had to bring our van into the shop to have it looked at it. The van has a knock, similar to a clunk when turning the wheel to the right and after shifting and pressing on the gas. We were nervous that this was going to be costly and we were going to have to dip into savings and cut back again, luckily that afternoon my van came home and Sherman told me it was a quick fix and they had scheduled it for Tuesday and it wasn’t anything to costly. He told me exactly what it was but for the life of me I can’t remember. After chores were done and everyone was settling in for the weekend I had yet another “crappy” incident with our two youngest boys. I was so frustrated with all the mess from the day. Bruiser had messed in his underwear twice, Brody had diarrhea and had got me, swing, floor, his clothes, my clothes and who knows what else pooped on sometime during the day. As I sat on the bathroom floor very frustrated and wanting to take some deep breaths to stay calm but can’t due to the stench of Bruisers unsuccessful potty I told Sherman “THATS IT…I’M DONE…I CLOCK OUT…YOU ARE ON POOP DUTY FOR THE NEXT 24 HOURS…THIS SUCKS!!! and believe me I MEANT IT! ugh! I must have had the right tone or maybe just the right amount of frustration or maybe it was the fact that my voice was shaky and I may have been on the verge of tears, but he did it and without argument. Somehow we made it through Friday.
Saturday came and sitting here now, after being through it, I wish I would have stayed in bed ALL day. It was a horrible day with only a few good moments..few and far between. I usually get to sleep in on the weekends to catch up on sleep. Nope not this Saturday! A blizzard had whipped through the town of Detroit Lakes and the snow drifts were waiting for my husband bright and early in the morning. He was able to somehow ignore them until about 9am when he couldn’t take the anxiety anymore and he had to get out there and clear the snow, salt the sidewalks, shovel the drive and then go take care of my Moms place and get that place all back together. So I had to get up and deal with the world. I think it may have set the tone for the whole day. When Sherman finally got back he had my sister with him. She was very excited to show me her new track shoes. At some point the kids asked if they could go outside, I said yes but they had to take the dog with them and they could only be out for 15 minutes since it was still kind of chilly and windy. Well over 30 minutes later I decided to let Zoey, our other dog out on the chain and I told Butch when she is ready to come in everyone has to come in. Ten minutes later the kids come in freaking out yelling about blood everywhere and Zoey was hurt. OH GREAT! A weekend vet visit was going to cost us big…I ran out to the porch and sure enough blood all over the place. She was scared and licking at her paw. We picked her up and put her in the bathtub to figure out what was going on. We came to the conclusion that she and Balto were playing and she must have got her paw caught on her tie out or caught on the cement or something because her nail was broke and it the quick was bleeding. I ran to the computer looked up what to do and it said use flour or cornstarch to stop the bleeding and relieve the pain, then bandage it up and it will be just fine. I had woke Sherman up asking for help. The arguments began there. He wanted to do things his way without looking it up or listening to me and the info I had found. It got pretty ugly and finally after calling my Mom to intervene things were ok and Zoey got the care she needed. She did very good. Sherman was still very frustrated with me and we weren’t exactly speaking. Then supper came and went and Zoey had chewed her bandage off so I went to Wal-mart and bought some supplies and within the hour I had that paw bandage real good into a little boot with a hard flat bottom so she could walk. Then to stop her from chewing it off soaked the bandage with stop chew bitter spray. Must have worked because the bandage is still on and working just fine!
Sunday morning came I was thrilled! YAY!  I get to go to Fargo and go shopping, and out to eat with my hubby…and only him! Our amazing friends Sara and Steve agreed to watchbucko..and in the meantime do a better job on your chores! The night ended with Sherman and I watching some more Desperate Housewives on Netflix. We are catching up on the past seasons and loving every minute of it! Well I am going to have to let you go and get some work done around here. Happy Birthday Albert Einstein! Until next time..enjoy these pictures!
